Sermon The Right Revd Peter Wheatley
On Sunday 20 May the Sung Eucharist will incorporate the sacraments of baptism and confirmation. It will be a pleasure to welcome The Right Reverend Peter Wheatley, formerly bishop of Edmonton, as the presiding bishop on this occasion. Now retired, Bishop Peter has served as curate of All Saints, Fulham 1973-78, vicar of Holy Cross, St Pancras 1978-82, vicar of St Mary’s Kilburn and St James’s West Hampstead 1982-95, archdeacon of Hampstead 1985-99 and bishop of Edmonton 1999-2015.
Confirmation is a significant step in the Christian journey at which a person affirms for himself or herself the faith into which they were baptized and their intention to live a life of committed discipleship. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop.
Please come and support each of them in the decision they have taken.
